we had a good weekend
other than the tea on saturday, we took a little road trip to asheville
it was nice
spur of the moment
need to do this more often
everyone was happy and had a good time
haley even allowed me to take some pics

only spent money on dinner
spending hiatus is going well
i even took off work on friday and went browsing - didn't buy a thing
i have been spending less at the grocery store after adding up last month's grocery total
WAY too high! i even used coupons at my last trip.
and i have extra money in my wallet - that is a good thing.

yesterday was the spring tea at my church
great food
great speakers
beautiful tables

no browsing target, michaels or old navy
no searching for clearance items
no dollar bins
no shopping due to boredom
no new clothing purchases
no new anything

except....
a new vacuum
a much needed vacuum
not a cheap vacuum
a good vacuum that will not need replacing this time next year
a vacuum that actually does what it is suppose to do
but, a vacuum is a necessity, right?
right

i have to say, i am doing pretty good on the spending hiatus
i actually returned some things
not exchanged, returned
i got money back
that is always a good thing.

hello. tgif! and, Good Friday, too!
i love a day off, especially a friday to make a long weekend.
it has been a good friday for sure.
went to the eye doctor - eyes are worse, but that means new glasses as soon as i find a pair i LOVE.
had lunch with the girls and my hubby. some had chick-fil-a, others had charley's - YUM!
came home and found a suprise in my mailbox. mini diaries from marta. too cute.
and then, the most fun of all, we painted ceramic eggs for easter!
bristol now has a paint your own pottery place (love it!) called kil'n time, catchy name.
tomorrow we are dyeing eggs and going on an egg hunt.
i love easter weekends!

today is the day. spending stops today. spending on non-essential items, that is. i have a long list of things i need from target.....cleaning supplies, ziploc bags, paper plates, etc. i am also going to get the stuff for the girls easter baskets. i have set a limit on the amount of things for their baskets because i have gone overboard in the past. way overboard. my plans are to put in a couple candy items, of course. and maybe a cd or book. that's it. what's the best thing you ever received in an easter basket?

i have to admit, i went out last night to find a new dress...before the spending hiatus began. no luck. so, IF i happen to find a dress i love, in my size, and looks great on me, i am going to get it. i have like two dresses in my closet, so it is sort of an essential. i need more dresses.

next saturday, i will let you know how successful i have been. i am hoping i will be very successful and get into a habit of not purchasing things we don't need. saving money and simplifying....that is my goal. it's a good goal to have, right? all this stuff in my house is getting to me. i have worked a little on my closet and drawers.....i have a pretty good bunch of clothes to get rid of. slowly but surely, i will do this!

the girls and i met j4 today....you know, the kids that won the family singing face off on cbs. they live not too far down the road in bluff city. sadie's teacher is the youth leader at their church. we are very excited for them. they won a recording contract with cbs records.
